ABOUT

This competition highlights women and other marginalized filmmakers who are freshmen in high school through seniors in college. Participants will follow the prompt given below and create a meaningful film that reflects their experience as women or other marginalized identities, along with the message of WIFMCO. Films that are selected as winners will receive prizes from our sponsors and a free screening!

A MESSAGE FROM WIFMCO’S STUDENT AMBASSADOR:

“I want to unite young filmmakers over a common passion: movies! The voices of marginalized communities are continually being silenced, so let’s make a positive change through art! Additionally, I want to highlight the up-and-coming generation that will soon be stepping in to the professional film industry. I think the challenge of creating a film that spotlights important issues is always incredibly meaningful and relevant. I also think that a challenge like this will entice students to join WIFMCO, especially after they are exposed to our vast network of supportive women and Colorado filmmakers. I want other young filmmakers like me to find their voice and a secure place in the Colorado film industry.” - Violet Dempsey
